Classroom Tips for Teaching ADHD Students

Parents and teachers join together hand in hand in helping children with ADHD. Parents with ADHD children have learned how to take care of them and discipline them. Teachers are interacting with ADHD students for several hours a day and they can attest to the extent of the ADHD child’s symptoms. They observe how the ADHD child interacts with other students at school and are aware of each ADHD child’s capabilities.
Teachers can help children with ADHD improve their behavior and excel in school. There are several classroom tips available that can be applied by the teachers of ADHD children.
The ADHD child can be affected by their environment and that is why it is important to consider the ambiance of the classroom. Even the physical arrangement of the classroom can affect the ADHD child. Arranging the kid’s seats into rows and avoiding children seated at one table will be beneficial. This will help a child with ADHD be less distracted and pay better attention to their teacher. A horseshoe shape arrangement of the desks is also effective for ADHD children. This way, teachers can interact with every student and students will be able to pay attention to their teacher. It is very important for the teacher to move around while teaching, so that they have access to every student in the classroom.
ADHD children should be seated near their teacher and should not be allowed to sit near a window or near the hallway. This is to avoid a number of distractions outside the classroom walls. The ADHD student should be provided with a seatmate, which is someone who can be a good influence to him or her. When conducting a lesson, the teacher should stand near the ADHD student and when giving examples, the teacher should use the worksheet of the ADHD student to engage them.
